Pilates is a full-body workout that aims to develop foundational strength in a low-impact manner. Pilates utilises intentional movements to target the deep stabilising muscles, which support day-to-day function and performance. If you're looking for a workout that builds core strength, improves posture, and increases flexibility and mobility, then Pilates is the perfect workout for you.
 
At Studio Soma, our team of master trainers will guide you through 45 minutes of contemporary Pilates in a small group setting. Our approach combines the core and fundamental principles of classical Pilates with a modern twist that includes small equipment, floor sequences, and standing variations in each session.

 

Barre

 

Barre is a low-impact full-body workout that combines ballet-inspired movements with strength exercises. The workout involves using a barre for support and sometimes incorporating equipment like dumbbells, balls, and resistance bands. During our barre classes, you can expect to perform small, repetitive movements in a higher rep range that will work your muscles to the point of fatigue. Similar to Pilates in terms of its benefits, barre moves at a faster pace, focusing on smaller motions and isometric holds.

Having good flexibility and mobility is crucial not only for physical performance but also for overall good health. Incorporating stretching and mobility exercises into your weekly routine can bring numerous benefits to your health, such as increased range of motion, better blood flow, reduced risk of injury, pain prevention, and better posture. At Studio Soma, we offer 20-30 minute stretching and mobility classes to help you establish a routine of prioritising recovery, which can enhance not only exercise performance but also everyday movement.
